

The band’s 2001 debut album, Gorillaz, featured dubbing and Latin style, and won triple platinum in the UK and double platinum in Europe. With Gorillaz, Alban broke away from his band Blur’s unique British pop music, and explored various music styles, including hip-hop, electronic music, and world music through a “quirky postmodern” approach.

became the band’s producer in 2016 after dubbing Russel Hobbs for many years, and was listed as a full member along with Albarn and Hewlett in the 2019 documentary Gorillaz: Reject False Icons.
